The whole top unit can be removed from the feeder body as you would remove any lid for filling and/or sanitation. There are no seams by the rain shield for the water to leak in. The shield is 100% water proof. The Kuhl QRF50-2: 50lb. Quail Range Feeder is made of heavy duty polypropylene plastic and will hold 50 lbs of feed.
